Basic intro of firearms, firearms safety and pistol handling. The objective of the course is to familiarize each student with the 6 safety rules of firearms handling. Exhibiting the safety rules throughout the course is a priority during the Basic Pistol course, this will set the foundation for the future. Students will learn the fundamentals of marksmanship which will better prepare the student for the LTC shooting qualification. Avg. course time is 2 hours. 200 rounds of ammunition preferred. Learn the safety rules, exhibit proper and safe firearms handling and build a solid foundation utilizing the Fundamentals of Marksmanship
Course is a progression of the Basic Pistol course, basic shooting qualification is required. Should the individual not meet the qualifications for Defensive Pistol a Basic Pistol course will be substituted as a replacement course, funds paid for the Defensive Pistol course will be applied to the Basic Pistol course. The objective of the Defensive Pistol Course is to incorporate the safe pistol handling and fundamentals of marksmanship gained from the Basic Pistol course with more advanced skills. Skills that will be taught in Defensive Pistol will include reloading drills, drawing from holster and moving to cover and concealment. Course typically takes 3 hours, 200 rounds of ammunition required.
The course includes classroom coverage of the LTC laws, the required shooting test and all of the required paperwork. This is a 4-6 hours training course as required by state law. The combo course offers our students to complete a Basic Pistol(Level I) and the LTC course in a one day course. By combing the two courses students receive a value added course at a discounted rate. The course curriculum focuses on 6 safety rules, the fundamentals of marksmanship and other skills critical to carrying daily. Course meets all requirements of the Texas Department of Public Safety.
